I had the opportunity to interview Carole Wolfe earlier this month about her writing and her newly released book My Best Decision-Sara’s Story.
What Made You Decide to Write Women Fiction
I read widely and Women’s Fiction is my favourite genre. In addition, Women’s Fiction allows authors much variety and flexibility in the writing process. Stories in the genre contain layered takes that typically explore multiple generations, and it is the main character’s emotional journey that drives the plot. Elements of other genres like mystery and romance, can be included as well. I get to explore how my characters think about the world and then how they allow the world impact them.
Tell Me About Your Books “My Best Mistake” and “My Best Decision”
The light-hearted “My Best Series” is all about complicated family relationships, hilarious hijinks, and soul-searching heroines.
My Best Mistake, book 1 in the My Best Series, follows Tasha Gerome as she navigates everyday disasters as a single mom, using humour as much as she can. Unfortunately, her deadbeat husband shows back up, a well-known doctor threatens her with legal action, and her mother drags her kicking and screaming back into the dating game. It takes a little help from her family to turn things around.
My Best Decision, book 2 in the series, is dependable attorney Sara Shaw’s story. Sara loves her job, but her family is pushing her OCD tendencies toward disaster. When the floozy who stole her sister’s husband stirs up trouble, Sara takes the bait and jeopardizes her stable reputation. She leaps at the chance to redeem herself but when another scandal erupts and her mom drags her down deeper, Sara scrambles to keep her world from spiraling out of control.
What Made You Decide To Write These Books
I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I’ve started to write a lot of books, but hadn’t finished any until “My Best Mistake”. I’m not sure if it was the content of the book itself or the fact that I was ready as a writer to finish a book that lead to “My Best Mistake”.
Either way, I learned so much from writing this book. It has been written and rewritten several times. seen three different editors and lots of beta readers. It was a long process (give or take five years) but a great experience.
