Hello everyone! I can’t believe it is already February. This year is flying by quickly. So far, it has been a month of change, personal growth, and spiritual growth. This included learning how to confront my fears and drawing closer to God. As a result, I’ve felt a joy I’ve never experienced before and felt lighter on my feet instead of being weighed down by fears and anxieties.
During my time off from a work injury, I have been reconsidering how I was living life since the beginning of COVID and where I want to be in the future. Overall, I’m excited to see what this year holds and the new changes that are forthcoming.
What I’ve Been Writing
These past couple of months, I got feedback from my editor on the sequel to Withstanding the Fiery Furnace. I’m really excited to start the next draft this week. I’m writing this draft in 100 days and each week, we give feedback on each other’s chapters during the 100 Day Book program. If you want to learn more about the programs I’m involved in at The Write Practice, check it out here.
Through an amazing group in the One Year to Publish program, we’ve been holding writing sprints up to five days a week where we can work on any writing project and keep each other accountable. Without this group, I would be so far behind in my writing. They are such a great encouragement.
I’ve also written a Doctor Who short story that you can read here. Here’s a synopsis of the story. There are whispers of things in the shadows where not everyone comes back from the dark. The Araneae, known as The Order, has settled in Kingston to carry out their plans to create a new spider species on earth called the human spiders. They have set their sights on a young woman whose world is about to be turned upside down.
What I’ve Been Reading
Last month I read a book by JD Edwin called Headspace. It follows a young woman named Astra who has been chosen to participate in a deadly alien game show. A winner must come forth for the earth’s survival. If you love the Hunger Games, this book is right up your alley. I couldn’t put this book down since the author keeps you guessing on what’s going to happen next.
