Lookback at 2020

Hello everyone,

This year, though filled with its challenges, has gone by quickly though others may have felt that the year dragged on. It’s been quite the year for all of us and with Christmas approaching, it’s going to be challenging this season. We long for the day when the pandemic will be over. To hug family and friends and to be around people. I know the first thing I’m going to do when the pandemic is over is to give my family and friends a big hug.

It has been taxing on us as a society both mentally, financially, and physically. Some of you may have lost loved ones, jobs, or struggling with your mental health. It could even be all of the above. I miss the closeness of family and friends and being able to travel. Even with the pandemic, I’m reminded of the importance of thankfulness and how we are stronger together as a community helping each other during this time of need. Let me know how COVID has impacted you this past year and ways that you’ve found hope during this time.

Writing

Besides working and going on beautiful hikes in and around Kingston, 2020 has been a productive year in regards to my writing. I’ve made progress with my novel and completed a short story called Sinking which I had posted in an earlier blog post.

Fantastic news . . . I’ve finished my book, Withstanding the Fiery Furnace. At least the editing part which is exciting!

I also posted my fifth story (Part One) of my Doctor Who series on Fanfiction which you can access here. Continue to follow Nicole and the Doctor as they travel to the times of the Roman Empire. Once there, they discover that someone has tampered with history and they must fix it before this new world becomes set in stone.

2021 Plans

By the end of 2021, I want to publish my novel and I want you to be part of the publishing process. Stay tuned for monthly updates on how I’m progressing and for ways on how you can be a part of it. This includes helping me to choose a book cover for my novel as well as the opportunity to be part of my book launch team.

Other goals include editing and publishing my collection of short stories along with finishing my next story in my Doctor Who series.

Other News

My online writing group, Active Alumni Writers, is publishing their next book on January 21, 2021. You may remember they published a collection of short stories last year. Unfortunately, I was unable to participate in their new anthology coming out next month since my main focus was getting my novel done. You can see the book trailer of The Rearview Mirror here. A fantastic trailer. It follows a rideshare driver who ends up in a mental institution after a tragic car accident that involves one of his passengers. As he recounts the incident to the police officer, secrets from his past bubble up to the surface. Fighting voices in his mind, he has to discover what is real or figments of his imagination to string together what really happened.

That’s all for now. Have a wonderful Christmas!
